What if I told you there was one simple thing that you could do to change the course of your day, your life, your eternity? Would you believe me?
What if it involved no cost, no obligation, and was forever guaranteed. Would you trust me?
What if it was as simple as “giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light” (Colossians 1:12)? What would you do next?
My children and I talk about buckets a lot, how mean and unkind things empty the invisible buckets of other people while the nice and kind things fill them back up again. If saying, “Thanks!” to other people fills them up in positive ways, possibly life-changing ways, why wouldn’t the same be true of our relationship with God?
I challenge you – for now – to simply rise with your day and say, “Thank you, God!” Later, we can talk about ways to make your everyday life a slightly more deliberate prayer of thanks.
O Father of goodness,
We thank you each one
For happiness, healthiness,
Friendship and fun,
For good things we think oh,
And good things we do,
And all that is beautiful,
Loving and true.
